Why Spay or Neuter my dog?

1. To Spay Or Neuter

A. The ONLY reason that is viable for not spaying or neutering your dog is to breed or show it.

B. Spaying or neutering should be done as soon as possible. Decisions regarding the matter should not be delayed for any reason.

C. Spaying or neutering should be done by 6 months of age. Prolonged exposure to high amounts of Testosterone in males causes Growth Inhibition, personality changes (aggression, spraying etc.), and increased chances of reproductive tumors and cancers.

D. In females, it is imperative that spay be done BEFORE her first heat. There are several issues that affect a female allowed to become sexually mature. Such as unwanted pregnancy, significantly increased chance of mammary and reproductive organ tumors, personality changes, and bleeding. The MOST viable reason for early spaying is the complexity of the procedure after her first heat. A spay of a sexually immature dog is simple and safe. After a dogs first heat, the procedure becomes risky and complicated. A mature uterus has mature blood vessels supplying it and each blood vessel must be legated during surgery. This increases the time it takes to complete surgery, causes increase blood loss, and is more stressful on the dog. It must be anesthetized for an extended period of time and therefore faces an increased risk of anesthesia related death
